Our History
The Evolution of Hanger Foundation
Hanger’s heritage of charitable giving dates back to the company’s founding in 1861. For many years, Hanger clinicians and employees consistently and generously donated millions of dollars in free care and financial contributions to a variety of causes, including hardship cases in their own communities. In 2009, Hanger formalized and increased its philanthropic work by establishing a non-profit organization, the Hanger Foundation.
Expert Leadership
Our giving is guided by experts in the orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) industry who have real-world insights and are informed by research to select the most impactful and life-changing experiences through the Foundation’s grants program. The Hanger Foundation leverages the expertise of Hanger employees on boards, committees, and programs. Leadership volunteers serve on Giving Committees, our General Board, Global Missions Committee, and more.
Our Priorities
The Hanger Foundation serves the entire O&P patient population, including amputees, children born with limb loss or limb difference, stroke survivors, veterans, cancer survivors, those living with multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, incomplete spinal cord injury, Charcot-Marie Tooth, Osteoarthritis, and diabetes.
Our grants and scholarships don’t just eliminate barriers, they ignite possibilities. They serve as the catalyst that empowers people to seize life’s boundless potential.
